Who is Yves Phlem dit Yvon?

We do not know when Yves came to Canada. But we do know that he was married to Marie Lereau, daughter of Sixte Lereau (son of Simon Lereau) and of Reine Deblois, on April 8, 1724 in the parish of Ste-Famille on l'Ile d'Orléans. Three years later, the couple and their first child  had moved to Ste-Anne-de-la Pérade. It was in this town that for 20 years, he practiced his profession of healer using methods that he learned in Morlaix before emigrating. 

I have two articles written on Yves Phlem to share with you: 

• The first one is written by Marie-Céline Blais and published in the Dictionaire Biographique du Canada (page 562-563). It describes the problems Phlem ran into in the practice of his profession - Healer. You can view and print the original french version of the article as a PDF (150K) document. I will eventually convert it into text and then translate it into English.

 
• The second one is a 20-page article written by Raymond Douville in the early 1970s for the series "Nos Vieilles Familles" and titled "Yves Phlem dit Yvon Le Breton - The Trials of an Eighteenth Century Healer". I do not have the original article in french, only a translation.. You can view it as an HTML (59K) document or as a PDF (56K) document, the latter being more suitable for printing.
